LAM Mozambique Airlines

LAM, which stands for Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique, is Mozambique's national airline.

With its head office in Mozambique's capital city of Maputo, LAM operates flights in the Southern Africa region, as well as flights to Europe.

Ownership in the airline is largely held by the Mozambican government (which holds a 91% ownership stake in the carrier), with the remaining shares shares held jointly by the airline's employees.

LAM's has a total of 7 aircraft in its fleet, and is considered relatively safe, having no accidents recorded for the past 10 years.

Despite this, the airline is on the European Union's blacklist of carriers which have safety concerns as a result of perceived poor maintenance and regulatory non-compliance.

LAM operates a number of weekly scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Maputo, and is often an affordable alternative to other carriers servicing the region.
