Dubai Offers Multiple Entry Visas

Date: 13 November 2012

In a move to make it easier for travellers to the United Arab Emirates country of Dubai to enter the country, Dubai is granting travellers multiple entry visas.  The move is aimed at making it less burdensome for travellers, and in particular, businessmen, to enter the country, and the visas will also be granted to investors and passengers on cruise liners.

The decision to offer multiple entry visas is aimed at stimulating cruise tourism to the Arab nation, and in addition, it is hoped that the change will impact positively on Dubai's economy.  Economic growth in Dubai has slowed down over the past few years. This follows a boom in the early to mid 2000's, in which the nation experienced unprecedented growth and investment, particularly in the property and resources sectors.

Dubai's port is used by 5 of the largest cruise lines in the world, and in 2011, almost 400 000 cruise tourists passed through Dubai's ports on more than 100 ships. It is expected that the move will increase the number of cruise tourists passing through the ports, pushing the number well beyond the 400 000 mark.
